At the Advocacy for Women with Disabilities Initiative (AWWDI), we understand that empowerment begins with action. Itโ€™s the small, heartfelt gestures that make the biggest difference, especially when it comes to improving the lives of women and girls with disabilities. Recently, our dedicated staff demonstrated this belief in a powerful way by coming together to raise funds for a new wheelchair for Miss Abdullahi Jamila, a vibrant young woman with a physical disability and an active member of our Self-Help Group (SHG).

This thoughtful initiative was made possible by the kind contributions of the following AWWDI staff members: Mr. Jayeoba Kolawole (Program), Mr. Oshioriamhe Otono (Communications), Mr. Emmanuel Idewo Oluwasegun (Finance), Mrs. Abudu Folukemi Rita (Program), Mrs. Roseline (Migbole) Daniel (Program), and Miss John Juliet (Monitoring & Evaluation). Their collective generosity provided Miss Jemila with a new wheelchair, enabling her greater mobility and independence.

These staff members, driven by compassion and solidarity, united their efforts to purchase a wheelchair that would restore Miss Jamilaโ€™s mobility and grant her greater independence. The wheelchair was officially presented to her by our Executive Director, Mrs. Patience Ogolo-Dickson, in a moment filled with gratitude and hope. This is more than just a giftโ€”itโ€™s an affirmation that no one should feel left behind, and that our community stands together to ensure that women and girls with disabilities can thrive.

Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow

Stories like Miss Jamilaโ€™s remind us of the barriers faced by many women and girls with disabilities across Nigeria, but they also remind us of the power of community and the change we can achieve when we join hands. At AWWDI, we believe that every woman and girl with a disability deserves access to the tools and resources they need to live a full, empowered life. But we cannot do it alone.

How You Can Make a Difference

Your support can change lives. We encourage you to join our mission and help us reach even more women and girls with disabilities. You can contribute in a number of waysโ€”by donating foodstuffs, wheelchairs, guide canes, sanitary pads, or financial aid. Every bit of support helps build a world where women and girls with disabilities can access the freedom and dignity they deserve.

Together, we can continue to create a society that values every individual, no matter their ability. Your generosity can be the key to unlocking someoneโ€™s potential, giving them the tools they need to thrive.

Gratitude for Our Collective Strength

We are deeply thankful to our incredible staff for their contributions, and to everyone who stands with us in our ongoing work. Your unwavering support keeps our mission alive and gives hope to so many. Letโ€™s continue building on this spirit of giving and kindness, ensuring that no one is left behind in our efforts to empower women and girls with disabilities.
